Also, mal sehen.
It works as you suggested, the data
path is the same as normal except that there's a 24->16 bit conversion
at the end of the pipeline just before conversion back to FLAC.
I've not implemented downsampling, e.g 192/24 -> 48/16, so any 192/24
bit music will appear as '192/16' bit files.
I've implemented using the ConvoFS2 scheme for doing DSD upsampling
etc. I.e when you enable the 16 bit support, a top-level folder
instantly appears (mount/flac16) underneath which the entire music
collection is mirrored as 16 bit FLAC files. If you're a Sonos user,
you could disable 24 bit support and enable 16 bit support. Then you
will only see the 'flac16' folder.
I really hope that Sonos devices can support uncompressed FLAC, it's
part of the standard and contained in the reference implementations so I
hope the best
I expect to release the 16 bit support as 'Beta6' on Tuesday -- I'm out
of town Monday. I expect this to be last beta release before 2.x final.
I was tempted to jump to 2.x , but there were more 16bit-related changes
than I had expected, so therefore the Beta6 release.
Hopefully some Sonos user(s) will be able to test, they don't need to
rush and buy Acourate at first, if it works in 'NoDRC' mode with 16 bit
mode, it will also work with DRC .
brachten Erfolg.
