Prof. Peter Schickele - P.D.Q. Bach

Liebe Mitforenten,

"Classical Music
P. D. Q. BACH. The great thing about Peter Schickele's P. D. Q. Bach concerts is that you don't have to know a lot about classical music to find the humor in them. But the more you know, the funnier the pieces are. Mr. Schickele's long-running gag is that P. D .Q. was the last and least of J. S. Bach's many sons, and that Mr. Schickele, in the persona of a musicologist at a Midwestern university, has devoted his life to discovering P. D. Q.'s works. The pieces, though meant to show P. D. Q.'s incompetence, skewer the standard repertory and contemporary trends. This program, ''Songs My Mother Wouldn't Teach Me the Words to,'' includes the Overture to P. D. Q.'s one grand opera, ''The Abduction of Figaro,'' the ''Four Next-to-Last Songs,'' the Prelude to ''Einstein on the Fritz,'' the ''No-No Nonette'' and ''Blaues Gras (Bluegrass Cantata).'' Sunday at 2 P.M., Carnegie Hall, (212) 247-7800. Tickets: $15 to $45 (Allan Kozinn)."
Wenn ich gut zuhöre, dann höre ich bei der Einführung auf Referenzen an Frank Zappa ("one of the legs is shorter than the other...")
Viel Spaß damit, und vielen Dank an Peter Schickele und seinen Humor.
Jörg
