Einen Röhren PRE einzubinden , halte auch ich für eine ausgezeichnete Idee.
Also Andi , dann bis zum nächsten WE ,vielleicht hörst Du dann schon dein kommenden VV.

Beste Grüße,Salvador hat geschrieben:The NOS version of my HE-7 in NOS-mode sounds like crap (well, a little overstating). The stage depth is way too flat, although at first listen the stage appears to come a little closer to the listening seat (which might appear to be more involving). But shortly after you realize that there is only this thin layer of sweet music being closer to you than what you might be used to, but the inner depth of the sound is lacking, the sound is two-dimensional. In contrast, the NOS in Bypass has a nicely deep stage and the sound is smooth and VERY threedimensional.
When compared to the OS-version with the old DSP and 8xOS, the sound is more threedimensional, stage depth is similar (might be very little reduced), sound is way more natural and much more details in the mids, very easy to listen to and less harsh in upper mids and highs. The only downside was a reduced bass definition, but I had the impression that this improved over time, maybe because the new clock was running in.
In the meanwhile I have purchased a powerfilter by MFE, the NF-3 (please google) which is filtering AC and DC and the result of this was increased bass definition, clarity and details in treble and improved stage depth which perfectly compensated the little weaknesses of the NOS in Bypass when compared to the old DSP 8xOS while preserving its strenghts.
In short, while the bass might be a tad (and only in comparison with the OS) thick in electronic music, in all other music it even sounds more natural that way and the rest is just fantastic. I don't want to change a thing and am very happy. I have an otherwise EXTREMELY resolving system (speakers, cables, Audio-PC) and the NOS in Bypass is just what I needed. A killer machine with the improved ACSS cabling in combination with the HE-1 and internal silver wiring for both and therefore also not really comparable to a standard HE-7 NOS bypass/HE-1 combo. It is likely that the combo that I have is unique worldwide. I will not change it anymore, it sounds so good.
So, I am very happy with the Audio-PC/DAC as digital source that I have.
But actually, I consider the HE-1 as only the output stage for the DAC which comes in an extra casing, has its own power conditioning, and two power supplies, one for each channel, and is in double-mono, and the signal from the DAC to this output stage is transferred by ACSS (current, not voltage) and only transduced to voltage inside the extra output stage HE-1. Although you can change the output level and besides that it has some inputs, I don't consider the HE-1 as a high-class preamp (although I am currently using it that way). It is more the HE-7 plus HE-1 are a DAC where you can change the output level by remote control and where the HE-1 is a high-class output stage in an extra casing.
While technically this output stage fullfils all technical sound parameters perfectly such as details, stage depth, localization, bass control etc., it lacks some acoustic finesse such as inherent flow, musicality, inner glow und lucidity of tones that only high class tube gear can provide in my ears. This is why as a next step I intend to test some very good tube preamps and I will either connect the HE-7 by standard connection with the tube preamp directly or via the HE-1 as the DACs output stage (at fixed level) with the tube preamp to see if my assumption is right that it will sound best to use HE-1 AND the tube preamp. If you are interested, I will let you know.

das hast du ja einiges umgesetzt.![]()
Hast du eventuell Vorher/Nachher Messungen (REW, Acourate, Carma, ...), aus denen man den Grad der Verbesserung in der Nachhallzeit und den Reflexionen sehen kann?
